About

The church was built in the romanesque style at some time in the 12th century. It is dedicated to St Olav. On the north-west corner of the church a face has been hewn. This, according to legend, represents the saint king. Another legend says that the church was built by a goblin. When the building was complete the goblin fell to his death. To this day no grass grows on the spot where he fell. The church has an altarpiece from 1588 and a font from the 17th century. Under the direction of the Inspector of Ancient Monuments and Historic Buildings an extensive restoration was carried out which was completed in 1972. Guiding during july. I took way too many photos of this picturesque red roofed church surrounded by an old graveyard. The church wasn't opened but we enjoyed the lovely views and the peaceful atmosphere. Read full review
