About

The Hardangervidda National Park Centre at Skinnarbu is the official visitor centre for Hardangervidda National Park, Norway's largest national park. The centre is strategically situated with a fantastic view overlooking lake Møsvatn and the vast mountain plateau, which is home to Norway's largest wild reindeer herd.

Our mission is to disseminate knowledge about the life of the wild reindeer and the Hardangervidda ecosystem through interactive and engaging activities.

Highlights and Experiences

1. Award-Winning Wild Reindeer Exhibition (Interactive)

Dive into the history and biology of the wild reindeer through our interactive exhibition, available in 10 languages.

Historical Journey: Follow the reindeer's migrations from prehistoric times and view unique tools made from reindeer bones dating back over 17,000 years.

Biology and Ecology: Learn more about the wild reindeer's biology, ecological adaptation, and the conservation efforts for the herd.

The "Bella" Experience: Follow the reindeer Bella on her wanderings across the high mountains, featuring video clips and photos she has taken herself.

2. VR Experience and Cinema Hall

VR Room: Get up close to the wildlife of Hardangervidda in our modern VR room.

Film Screenings: Watch four different films in the cinema hall that convey the nature, culture, and history of Hardangervidda.

3. Café Panorama and Souvenir Shop

Café Panorama: Enjoy a light meal and coffee with the most beautiful view of the Hardangervidda plateau.

Souvenir Shop: Find unique gifts, books, toys, and authentic reindeer hides as a memory of your visit.
