Hiking trips at Seljord

  1. Skorve is one of the highest mountains in Seljord, with two peaks: Mount Gøysen (1,370 m) and Mount Nordnibba (1,365 m). During WWII two planes crashed into the mountain.
  2. In Bjørgefjell you can choose from a number of different footpaths through the cultural landscape. The lower part of the route is graded easy to medium, while the final ascent to the top of Mount Bjørgefjell is steeper and more challenging. There are numerous idyllic spots along the way where you can stop, rest and enjoy the panoramic views of Lake Seljordsvatnet.
  3. You can start this walk at The Norwegian Ski Museum. Make Øverbø your destination, and experience the smallholding that is the birthplace of skiing legend Sondre Norheim: known the world over as the “father of modern skiing”. Here you can see the cabin in which Sondre was born on 10 June 1825. It was in this cabin the first Winter Olympic flame was lit.

Attractions in Seljord

  1. Gallery Nutheim was opened in 1978. The Gallery exhibits art by local artists. Nutheim Guest House accommodates bus groups and other groups for meals and a look through the art gallery.
  2. Exhibition by Eva Bull Holte ang guests. You`ll also find a popular gallery that sells arts and handcraft. Every summer season differents local exhibitors exhibit their products for sale.
  3. Kunstlåven (The Art barn) in Seljord has an art exhibition every summer.
  4. Vieving stones. Eight different sculptured "vieving stones" have been placed in to the landscape, on locations related to tales of local female figures. Gonil Dale, Guro Lommodden, Kivlemøyane, Guro heddeli, Tårån i troppin, Glima i Rupedalar, Ljose-Signe i Bindingsnuten and Skuldalsbruri. each of these women has fiddle music named after them.
