Toreskyrkja is a prominent mountain peak rising 1,371 meters above sea level in the massif between Kvitåvatn, Gaustablikk, and Heddersvatn. This hike is perfect for those seeking a more challenging alternative to the classic Gaustatoppen trail, offering panoramic views of Tuddal, southern Telemark, and a stunning perspective of Gaustatoppen itself.
Key Hike Information:
The hike starts at Kvitåvatnet and follows a T-marked trail. Please note that this route is technically more demanding than the popular trail from Stavsro to Gaustatoppen.
Water and Cooling Off: Much of the trail follows a stream valley, providing several opportunities to refill your water bottle or enjoy a quick splash in the cold mountain water.
Terrain and Equipment: As the trail traverses high mountain terrain and sections of large boulders, hiking boots with good ankle support are essential for a safe and comfortable trip.
The View: From the summit, you are rewarded with a unique vantage point. You have a direct line of sight to the iconic Gaustatoppen, as well as the vast mountain ranges stretching south through Telemark.
How to get there:
Alternative route: The hike can also be started from Heddersvatn (refer to ut.no for details).
Important: Please show consideration when parking and use designated spaces only.
