10 (14) kmSkorve is one of the most distinctive mountain massifs in Telemark. Featuring two prominent peaks, Gøysen and Nordnibba, the mountain offers a challenging but unforgettable trekking experience. Here, you are rewarded not only with a formidable panoramic view but also a close encounter with history: two plane crashes during WWII left wreckage that remains on the mountain today as silent memorials.
Quick Facts
Hiking Skorve requires sturdy footwear and clothing that can handle rapid weather changes in the mountains.
This is the most common route. The hike starts steeply through dense forest before the landscape opens up to fantastic views of the Kivledalen valley.
For those seeking a longer day trip, you can continue to the second highest peak, Nordnibba (1365 m).
Skorve carries a dramatic history from World War II. Two Allied planes crashed here: one near Gøysen and one near Hestenutan. The remains are protected as cultural monuments; we ask all visitors to show respect and leave the wreckage untouched.
Tip: Download the Fintur app or pick up a physical map at the Seljord Tourist Information before you start.
