Experience the Telemark Canal up close! Landskaper’n is a popular cycling route that takes you through the protected landscape of Flåbygd. Here, you will ride past well-preserved Swiss-style houses, through lush farmland, and discover historic engineering marvels along the canal.
The route starts and ends at First Camp Lunde – Telemark, a central hub for activities and logistics along the canal.
Begin your journey at First Camp Lunde. This is where the historic canal boats meet daily. We recommend a quick stop at the Gartneriet garden center for an ice cream before you head out.
The next stop is the historic Strengen Pier. This was once a vital hub for trade between Upper Telemark and the coast. Today, it is an idyllic spot for a break or a refreshing swim in the canal.
Continue your ride through Murane. This section serves as a living museum of 19th-century road construction, featuring traditional stone walls and guard stones. This stretch is car-free and very child-friendly.
After Murane, you will reach Hogga Lock, the first lock that regulates the water level from Dalen. Facilities include toilets, picnic areas, and spots for camping or motorhomes.
The tour concludes at Lunde Lock. If you arrive around 1:00 PM during the summer season, you can experience the bustling life as the canal boats meet. Here you will find the Slusekroa cafe and a park area designed for children.
