Øvre Verket reprents one of the most important culturally historic places from the years of industrialization in Norway. The redwashed wooden houses were built in the early 1800s as living quarters for workers in the Ulefoss Ironworks.
Øvre Verket Håndverkstun is found in Ulefoss, in the municipality of Nome. It is near the center of Ulefoss and within walking distance from the Telemark Canal, Ulefoss locks, Ulefoss Hovegard (historical residence) and the Ulefoss dock.
At Øvre Verket you'll find antiques, a bunad workshop, frame workshop, and textile art as well as work from other artisans, and also a restaurant and gallery. We have a market and activities throughout the year. The following are also located here: Strikk & sånn, Nome antikvariat, Loppebutikk, Rammeverksted, Ciara design, Håndarbeidsloftet, Ingrid & Emma, Museumsleilighet, Øvre Verket Spiseri og Galleri.
