Gausta – Where Majestic Mountains Meet Smooth Trails
Begin your journey in the Gausta area, home to stunning views of Gaustatoppen and 85 km of groomed trails suitable for all levels. Choose between easy forest loops or more challenging mountain terrain in tracks like Svardalsløypa, Red 10, and the demanding Blue 23.
What makes skiing at Gausta special isn’t just the scenery – it’s the atmosphere. Stop by the Bakery for fresh cinnamon buns, enjoy stone-oven pizza at Stova, or grab a quick snack in the sun at Koffertlokket. Looking for lively après-ski vibes? Loftet Afterski delivers music, quizzes, and great energy. For a truly memorable lunch, book a grill cabin and enjoy mountain views by an open fire.
Rauland – Telemark’s Largest Ski Area and Endless Freedom
Head into the wide-open landscapes of Rauland, offering 150 km of groomed trails stretching across forests, plateaus, and high mountain terrain. With floodlit tracks for evening skiing and double classical lanes in many areas, Rauland is a paradise for both beginners and seasoned skiers.
After your tour, treat yourself at Raulandstoga or enjoy the delicious dishes and views at Restaurant Falkeriset. Want to combine skiing with culture? Take the sculpture walk to Vidsyn for a unique artistic experience in the winter scenery.
Vrådal – Family-Friendly Skiing and Majestic Mountain Tours
Take the chairlift to the top of Vrådal Panorama Ski Center and enjoy two scenic loops of 3 and 4 km, ideal for shorter family trips. If you’re craving a longer adventure, follow the trail leading toward the majestic Hægefjell, a true highlight for nature lovers.
For calmer days or windy weather, try the Holtetjønn loop, a sheltered 3 km forest trail. Prefer open terrain? Stemnetten offers gentle skiing with panoramic views. More experienced skiers can take on Skarstøylnetten or the challenging route to Hæggfjell, while the small loop at Ørnevatn is perfect for sunny breaks and fun activities. Need a warm-up? Stop by Café Utsikten or Vrådal Panorama Café.
Haukeli – True Mountain Skiing from Dawn to Dusk
In Haukeli, the groomers are up early so you can enjoy some of the region’s finest trails. Ski through forests, across high plateaus, or under evening lights in the floodlit trails at Vågslid and Edland.
From the ski center, the high-mountain routes stretch toward Haukeliseter, offering a powerful experience of Norwegian winter nature. Due to wildlife protection, grooming stops short of the mountain lodge except during Easter, when the full route is open. Around the village center, you’ll find an excellent trail network south of the Kjela river—perfect for both skating and classic technique.
Lifjell – High Mountain Magic and Unforgettable Breaks at Hollane
Discover 75 km of groomed trails on the Lifjell plateau. From Jønnbu, several family-friendly loops of 2–3 km offer fun skiing for all ages, while more advanced skiers can venture further into the high mountains for sweeping vistas up to 1300 m.a.s.l.
If the weather turns, switch to the sheltered Vihus trails a few minutes away. For a truly special experience, make the trip to Hollane, a peaceful mountain café surrounded by white peaks, known for its fresh waffles and warm soups. You can ski all the way up or take the snowcat (Weasel) to the ridge and glide the last stretch in magical terrain.
Gautefall – A Cross-Country Paradise for All Levels
Gautefall offers a beautiful trail network winding through open highland terrain. Start from the ski center or explore the tracks around Gamatun, Bjønntjønn, and Rytterspranget.
Don’t miss Gautefall Biathlon, one of Norway’s top biathlon facilities, featuring a 4.3 km floodlit loop with excellent grooming year-round. After an active day, unwind at Gautefall Ski Lodge with local dishes or enjoy the panoramic views from Rytterspranget Café.
