Vasseventyret is a family-friendly adventure trail combining nature experiences with play, learning, and fun activities. Located in the stunning mountain scenery of Haukelifjell, this 1.3 km circular trail features barbecue spots, a fishing area, and a swimming spot – all open to the public throughout the summer season.
Whether you’re traveling with children, exploring Norway’s mountains, or just looking for a peaceful outdoor escape, Vasseventyret offers a unique mix of nature and interactive installations.
In summer 2025, maintenance and upgrades are being carried out on some of the installations. This means certain activities may be temporarily unavailable.
Good news: the trail, barbecue areas, and swimming spots will remain open, making this a great trip for both adults and children.
As you walk the trail, you’ll join Sildre, a cheerful drop of water, on his mission to save nature at Haukelifjell. Strange things are happening – plants and fish are dying, and his friend Live has fallen ill. The infamous Water Goblin Surkula is polluting the area, and Sildre needs your help to stop him before it’s too late.
Along the way, you can:
The trail starts at Arbuvollen, just west of the old mountain shop. It is clearly signposted from the parking area, and the entire loop is stroller-friendly.
Wheelchair access: The first part of the trail, from the shop down to the fishing spot and viewpoint/barbecue area, is wheelchair accessible. The surface is asphalt and gravel, with a gentle 3% incline over 500 meters.
Location: Along the E134 mountain road at Haukelifjell, Norway.
Parking: at Arbuvollen
When hiking in Norway, it’s important to follow responsible outdoor practices to preserve the environment. Stay on marked trails to avoid damaging vegetation and ecosystems, carry all litter with you, and follow local rules – especially in protected areas. Keep a respectful distance from wildlife, and be mindful during nesting and breeding seasons. Small actions make a big difference in keeping Norway’s nature beautiful for generations to come.
