About

Lifjell offers an impressive and varied network of 75 km of groomed cross-country ski trails. Thanks to its unique location at an altitude of 1,000 to 1,100 meters, you are guaranteed snow-sure conditions, beautiful high-mountain terrain, and breathtaking views surrounded by majestic mountain peaks reaching up to 1,300 meters above sea level. The entire trail network on the mountain is maintained and kept in top condition by Lifjell Løypelag.

Trails Tailored to Every Skill Level

Family-Friendly Loops on the Jønnbu Plateau

Are you touring with your family or do you prefer flat, easy loops? On the Jønnbu Plateau (Jønnbuplatået), you will find four family-friendly loop trails, each measuring between 2 and 3 km. These trails are perfect for the youngest skiers, offering gentle slopes and safe surroundings. All trails on the plateau and further up the mountain share a convenient starting point at the large parking lot at Jønnbu.

Challenging Tours in Authentic High-Mountain Terrain

For more experienced and adventurous skiers, Lifjell offers endless opportunities in rugged, undulating terrain. Here you can test your skills on varied trails that wind their way up toward the mountain peaks, allowing you to enjoy pristine winter nature at its very best.

Pro-Tip: Windy Weather on the Mountain? Head to the Vihus Trails!

Should the weather turn rough up on the high peaks, you don't have to cancel your ski trip. Just a 5-minute drive from Lifjell, you will find the Vihus Trails (Vihusløypene). Located in a sheltered, lower-altitude forested terrain, these trails provide excellent protection from the wind and serve as the perfect alternative when the mountain weather acts up.

An Unforgettable Destination: Hollane Cabin

A ski trip to Hollane is an absolute must during your stay at Lifjell. If you dream of peace, quiet, snow-covered expanses, and the aroma of freshly baked waffles or a steaming hot bowl of soup in the middle of the mountain wilderness, this is your destination. Hollane is idyllically situated in the heart of the mountains and is a highly popular destination for a well-deserved break along the way.

How to get to Hollane:

  • Skiing from Jønnbu: A beautiful 9 km ski tour starting from the main Jønnbu parking lot.

  • Skiing from Seljord: A scenic 13 km route starting from Grimås.

  • By Snowcat / Tracked Vehicle (Weasel): Looking for a more comfortable journey, or want to save your energy? You can ride the unique tracked vehicle into Hollane. If you take the snowcat, you also have the option to get off at the highest point of the trip, allowing you to enjoy skiing the final stretch down across the high mountain.
