The island "Store Arøya" belongs to an island group located at the outermost point of the Langesundsfjorden, offering diverse terrain, fascinating plant life, historical cultural heritage, and fantastic bathing opportunities.

With several beautiful sandy beaches, there is something for everyone. In Slåvika, you can even experience traces of an old limestone quarry that was associated with Norsk Hydro's operations in Notodden. This area also provides opportunities for tent camping.

Sheep grazing
On the island, there is a flock of freely roaming sheep. They are fenced in, and visitors are encouraged to keep the gates locked to ensure the safety of the sheep.

Accommodation at Arøyaskolen
Located near the Lindtein ferry pier, you will find Arøyaskolen, which offers accommodation with approximately 30 beds. Here, you can enjoy swimming and fishing for crabs.
