About

Freshwater has been in short supply on Jomfruland. In addition, saltwater are forced right into the groundwater. This forest lake is the biggest on the island and it has a dense layer of clay, which separates the water from the rest of the groundwater.

This idyllic forest lake is where Theodor Kittelsen got inspiration for his painting "Nøkken". The lake has been restored, and the trails are now accessible for wheelchair users.

Tårntjernet is absolutely worth to visit. In the winterseason it is a nice place for skating!
