Teater Ibsen is located in modern premises on Klosterøya in Skien, a few kilometres from the city centre. Here you can take part in performances for both children and adults throughout the year. The theatre also collaborates with professional stage environments, various free theatre and other cultural actors on the production and implementation of various events.
Bar and themed evenings
The theatres bar has all rights and is a popular place to meet ahead of the performances. We’re sure you'll get the right theatrical vibe. The theatre foyer also houses its own events such as themed evenings, lecture theatre, debates with more. The theatre recommends that everyone use the QR-based booking system with VIPPS as their preferred means of payment. Information and instructions for use can be found on all tables.
Capacity
Teater Ibsen currently has one hall with a capacity of 162 audience members. A new stage will be completed on the theatre's 2nd floor in 2021. This hall will have a capacity of up to 80 people.
How to get to the Theater
Teater Ibsen has easy access via public transport (bus stop: Klosterøya), walking and cycling road and car. You can use all the parking spaces on Klosterøya for performances, but please note that the parking is for charge.
Local Theater
Teater Ibsen is the whole of Vestfold and Telemark's local theatre. Most of the productions can be visited in the following places: Bø, Seljord, Rjukan, Notodden, Åmot in Vinje, Dalen in Tokke, Horten, Sandefjord, Nøtterøy and Larvik.
History
Teater Ibsen was established in 1975, under the name Telemark Teater. In 1991 they also became regional theatre also for Vestfold, and then changed their name to Teater Ibsen.
