In the municipality of Skien, there are many waterways that are well suited for paddling. On the upper side of the Skien lock there are plenty of opportunities for canoeing and kayaking up along the rivers.
One of them is the popular lake Kilevannet in Kilebygda. With its narrow straits, inlets and bays, the lake is an exciting and popular water for paddlers to explore.
You get a short trip to wilderness when you paddle on the 5 km long river Falkum in Skien. The peaceful river is located just outside the city center and has lush vegetation along the riverbank that hangs out into the water and makes it very idyllic.
Norway's first continuous paddling trail has become even longer - with the extension of Paddle trail Vestfold and Telemark to the Telemark coast and up the historic Telemark Canal.
