About

The summer town Brevik is famous for its Bacalao Festival and as Norway´s "icecream capital".

Each year, on a Saturday in July, Brevik Sjømandsforening hosts a lavish celebration of bacalao - dried and salted cod.

Brevik is  a well-preserved coastal town with narrow streets winding between proud old wooden houses.

The town taks pride in its maritime hero Curt Sivertsen Adeler, born in Brevik in 1622 , and several places in the town are named after him.

Brevik is also extremely proud of its links with the royal house of Thailand.
In July 1907 King Chulalongkorn of Siam visited Brevik and was captivated by the town. In 2010 a statue of him was erected by the Thai state.

Summer offers a wide range of activities in Brevik: Sightseeing tours in the archipelago, a big garage sale, markets, exhibitions and much more.
