Brevik Town Museum is housed in the city's old City Hall on Øya (also known as Sylterøya), with its facade facing the strait and Brevik's historic, sheltered harbour. The museum is a central part of Brevik, one of Norway's best-preserved wooden towns from the age of sailing ships.
Origin: The building was originally a merchant's manor erected by Jørgen Chrystie in 1761.
Restoration: Three rooms in the stately building have been restored to their original style with authentic, period interiors. This offers a unique glimpse into 18th-century bourgeois life.
Brevik Town Museum houses several exciting and historically significant exhibitions:
Museum Shop: Offers a wide selection of local historical literature, postcards from old Brevik, and handicraft products.
Combine Your Visit: A visit to the museum can be perfectly combined with a city walk in idyllic Old Brevik.
Brevik Historical Society offers guided tours for groups and interested visitors.
