Experience the fascinating porcelain adventure at the Porcelain Museum in Porsgrunn.
Since 1887, porcelain has been fired at Porsgrunds Porselænsfabrik – and production still continues today. The museum is located right next to the historic porcelain factory, making it a must-visit cultural attraction in Telemark.
The Porcelain Museum’s permanent exhibitions showcase the entire journey of Norwegian porcelain. Explore the evolution from the very first porcelain firing in 1887 to the modern Blue Flower pattern, which is still hand-painted and fired in Porsgrunn today.
Through a unique combination of tradition, digital technology, and interactive installations, you can experience over 130 years of porcelain craftsmanship and design history. With more than 1,000 objects and innovative digital displays, the museum tells the full story of Porsgrunds Porselænsfabrik and its world-famous porcelain.
Enhance your visit by booking a guided tour that includes entry to the factory itself. See firsthand how porcelain is created, fired, and decorated by skilled artisans.
Please note: Factory visits must be booked in advance. To reserve, contact Telemark Museum at +47 35 54 45 00.
The Porcelain Museum is located together with the Auction Hall, where visitors can purchase vintage PP porcelain. Don’t miss the museum’s design shop, offering one-of-a-kind gifts and collectibles.
The museum also offers engaging children’s activities. Kids can design and decorate their very own porcelain cup or plate from PP. This hands-on experience is both fun and educational – and the finished piece can be taken home the same day.
Visit the museum shop for a curated selection of unique works by local Norwegian artists and designers. Here, you will find exclusive gifts, artworks, and high-quality porcelain souvenirs to take home.
For updated information about opening hours, admission prices, and seasonal events, please visit the official Porcelain Museum website.
