It was in 1885 that Johan Jeremiassen established what was to become Norway's only producer of "the white gold" - Porsgrund's Porcelain Factory. Today, 136 years later (2021), Porsgrund is one of the few porcelain factories left in Scandinavia.
Highly burned porcelain
Since the establishment, there has been continuous production of highly fired porcelain in the factory buildings located idyllically along the Porsgrunn river. Here you can see the porcelain from casting to burning.
See straw-painting and porcelain production
When you visit the factory outlet, you should stop by the straw painters and see how they hand-paint the popular and traditional straw pattern. The craft production is also well worth a visit, here you see how porcelain is produced.
Shop to reduced prices
During a visit to PORSGRUND, you have a unique opportunity to shop at reduced prices with e.g. 1st and 2nd sorting in the factory outlet.
Main producer to the Royal Family
PORSGRUND is the main producer of porcelain flatware and products for the Royal family, and has been so for three generations.
