Discover a peaceful forest hike in the heart of Siljan, following an old traditional route from Brånaskottet to Prestegårdseter. This trail is perfect for hikers seeking a quiet, low-traffic path through varied woodland, with cultural heritage and untouched nature.
Distance: 3.8 km
Duration: approx. 1 hour 40 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
Season: June – September
Total elevation gain: ~150 m
Route type: Point-to-point (A–B)
The hike begins at the parking area by Brånaskottet and initially follows the same path as the route to Melakollen. Where the Melakollen trail turns left and uphill, continue straight ahead towards Prestegårdseter.
You will pass a clear-cut area and, about halfway, cross the small valley of Frimannsdalen. The path then climbs gently over a forested ridge before descending toward the old mountain farm at Prestegårdseter.
The route is well-marked and runs mostly on soft forest ground, making it ideal for beginner hikers and families with older children.
