Privacy policy
Visit Telemark and its partners respect your privacy and process personal data in accordance with the Norwegian Personal Data Act.
About this privacy policy
Visit Telemark and its partners respect your privacy and process personal data in accordance with the Norwegian Personal Data Act. This privacy policy explains how Visit Telemark and its partner websites (including Visit Kragerø, Vest-Telemark Museum, Telemark Canal, Visit Seljord, Telemarksvegen and Visit Grenland, among others) collect and use personal data.
The Marketing Manager at Visit Telemark is the data controller responsible for the organisation’s processing of personal data. This includes information we receive when you use our services, such as our websites, or communicate with us by phone, email, social media or other similar channels. Where day-to-day responsibility has been delegated, this is specified under the relevant section. Such delegation covers the tasks involved, but not the overall responsibility.
We maintain strict security standards and procedures to prevent unauthorised access to your data. We use advanced technologies, including but not limited to data encryption, firewalls and server authentication, to protect your information. We require all our employees, as well as any third parties engaged to provide support services, to comply with our privacy policies. We also reserve the right to audit their compliance.
We may update or amend this privacy policy from time to time, without prior notice, to reflect new or revised privacy practices. Your continued use of our products, applications, services and websites covered by this privacy policy constitutes acceptance of any changes.
Processing of personal data on our websites
The web editors are responsible for the day-to-day handling of personal data by Visit Telemark on visittelemark.no, including its partner websites and subpages, as well as visittelemark.info and telemarkshistorier.no, unless otherwise specified below. Providing personal data when using website services, such as signing up for a newsletter, is voluntary. The legal basis for processing is the individual’s consent, unless otherwise specified.
Æventyret and Granicus act as data processors for Visit Telemark and provide development and maintenance services for visittelemark.no, including its subpages and partner websites. R8 Edge is responsible for the development and maintenance of telemarkshistorier.no.
Data collected in connection with website operations is stored on dedicated servers managed by the service provider. Only Visit Telemark, Æventyret, Granicus and R8 Edge have access to the data collected. A separate data processing agreement between Visit Telemark, Granicus, Æventyret and R8 Edge governs which information the service providers can access and how it must be processed.
Transfer of personal data to other countries
We store your data on Kinsta’s servers in the Belgium (europe-west1) region and retain it for a reasonable period or for as long as required by law. However, your data may be transferred to, stored and processed in locations inside or outside the European Economic Area (EEA) by our partners or service providers. By submitting your personal data, you consent to such transfers, storage and processing. We take all necessary steps to ensure that your data is handled securely and in accordance with this privacy policy.
Website analytics
Visit Telemark collects anonymised data about visitors to visittelemark.no and its associated websites, as well as telemarkshistorier.no. The purpose is to compile statistics that help us improve and develop the information and services offered on our websites. These statistics provide insights such as how many people visit different pages, how long they stay, which websites they come from and which browsers they use.
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity as analytics tools on our websites.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer when you visit a website. Cookies may be set by the website itself (first-party cookies), but external websites may also place cookies on the site (third-party cookies), for example through embedded YouTube content.
This website uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity to collect information about users, helping us provide the best possible functionality and continually improve the information and services we offer. Information is collected from your computer’s browser and may include your IP address, operating system, browser type, screen resolution and previously visited websites.
We also use cookies for targeted marketing, such as banner advertising and advertisements or posts on social media. Visit Telemark uses cookies to measure and optimise website performance, tailor advertisements and personalise some of the content you see and interact with. Tailored advertising may also be carried out by Visit Telemark’s contractual partners, including tourism businesses in Telemark.
Cookies may be used to remember a visit (session cookies) or recognise a visitor on subsequent visits (persistent cookies). Most persistent cookies have an expiry date and are automatically deleted after a specified period.
For more information about cookies and how to manage them, we recommend visiting Nettvett.no and Google Analytics.
Sharing posts
When you share a post, the information is transferred directly to the social network you choose. How that network handles the data is governed by your agreement with the platform. We do not store any information about the fact that you have shared a post.

Visit Telemark sends out a newsletter by email approximately once a month. To receive our newsletter, you must provide an email address.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of our newsletter. Your email address will also be deleted if we receive notification that it is no longer active.
Why personal data is shared
We may use third-party providers to deliver certain data processing services. These providers act as our authorised data processors. Examples include IT service providers and data analytics providers that process information on our behalf. We may also use third-party services to personalise content, collect email addresses from users, send emails, provide marketing support and deliver customer service.
Our data processors are required to process data in accordance with our instructions and this privacy policy. They are also subject to relevant confidentiality and security obligations.
In addition to the specific circumstances described in this section, we may disclose your personal data where necessary to comply with a legal obligation to which we are subject, or to protect your vital interests or those of another natural person.
Email and phone communications within the organisation
Visit Telemark’s employees and partners use email for routine communication with internal and external contacts. Each individual is responsible for deleting messages that are no longer relevant. When an employee leaves the organisation, their email account is deleted, although certain relevant emails will normally be transferred to colleagues.
Sensitive personal data must not be sent by email.
Please note that standard email is not encrypted. We therefore advise against sending confidential, sensitive or otherwise private information by email.
Telephone calls are logged in our phone system, including the phone numbers of the caller and recipient and the time of the call. This log is necessary for system administration and operation. No other systematic recording of telephone calls that could identify the caller takes place.
