Hotel Vic is a charming, independent hotel with a rich history, established in 1890 and located in the heart of downtown Porsgrunn. From here, you’ll find yourself just a short walk away from boutique shops, cozy restaurants, nightlife venues, the riverside promenade, a cinema, library, grocery store, and everything else you might need during your stay.
Over the years, the hotel has undergone several major renovations. We’ve added a spacious fitness room, a cozy lounge area, and a beautiful backyard garden. Several of our meeting rooms have also been upgraded and are now both modern and functional.
Our latest major renovation has been the refurbishment of our Director's Residence, which is now available for long-term stays. This residence, located in our backyard, feels like a small home with all the necessary amenities. To inquire about renting it, please contact charlotte.andreassen@vichotel.no.
The hotel offers 109 rooms, including single rooms, double rooms, family rooms, and superior rooms. The rooms are located in both the historic and the "new" wing of the hotel and are regularly renovated. Our superior rooms, located on the 6th floor, offer views either over the nearby neighborhoods or across the city and the beautiful Porsgrunn River.
Breakfast, afternoon cake and coffee, as well as a light evening buffet, are always included in our rates.
We also offer a welcoming lounge with a big screen and two shuffleboards that can be used during events.
Our lobby bar is open daily and offers wine, beer, snacks, chocolate, and nuts. Newspapers are also available for guests.
At the center of the hotel, we have a lush garden with benches and tables for guest use. For the past two years, we’ve hosted concerts there featuring local artists.
If you want to stay active during your visit, we have a spacious fitness room equipped with everything you need for a solid workout.
For those who enjoy walking, there are several scenic trails nearby, including river walks and viewpoints such as Lysthusåsen on the west side and Bånnåsen in the Bjørntvedt area.
Outside the hotel, you can also borrow free electric bikes for sightseeing in the area.
Local attractions worth visiting include:
Our meeting rooms come in various sizes and layouts, allowing you to choose the best fit for your group. They can be used for conferences, smaller meetings, events, wine tastings, and more.
We also have an in-house sommelier who can assist with organizing wine tastings and similar activities.
Additionally, the local company Forråder Lokal regularly visits our conference rooms with interactive games and experiences.
We offer lunch and other tasty meals in connection with courses and events. If you would like dinner, we’re happy to book a table for you at one of Porsgrunn’s many excellent restaurants.
Alternatively, we serve a light evening buffet from Monday to Saturday, and our lobby bar is open every day.
The train and bus terminal is just 400 meters from the hotel, with train connections to Oslo, Vestfold, Notodden, and the Sørlandet Line.
Local buses run frequently between Skien-Porsgrunn, Brevik, Stathelle, and Langesund.
Torp Airport is approximately a 30-minute drive (45 km) away by car or taxi.
Herøya Industrial Park is only a 4-minute drive from the hotel.
We offer free parking for our guests, including two electric vehicle charging stations—making arrival as easy as possible.
