Experience a spectacular hike to Nordkollen, a moderately challenging peak in the heart of Siljan. This short but steep hike offers stunning panoramic views of mountains and fjords. On clear days, you can even spot Færder Lighthouse and the Swedish coastline.

From the summit, you can enjoy views of:

  • Brokefjell and Brakandalsfjell in Kviteseid
  • Roholtfjell in Vrådal
  • Farris, Vestfold, Oslofjord, and on clear days, Færder Lighthouse and the Swedish coast

Near the summit, a hiking register box provides a panoramic map naming surrounding peaks. To the north, an additional viewpoint offers fine views over Siljan village.

Trail Description

  • Start at the gate near the Kvisla farms at the northern end of Farris Lake
  • Follow the road about 100 meters downhill and cross a small creek
  • Turn right onto the blue-marked trail (signposted Nordkollen and Oklungen)
  • The trail winds steadily up the hillside; the path is soft and can be muddy in wet conditions
  • After approx. 1.7 km, reach the saddle connecting to Oklungen trail
  • Turn left (signposted Nordkollen) and continue up the north side
  • Follow the ridge to the summit and the main viewpoint facing south

Access and Parking

  • From Riksvei 32 between Skien and Siljan, turn towards Kvelde
  • Drive 8.5 km to the beach at the outlet of Lakssjø
  • Slight right onto Løkkeveien (signposted Moholt Community House)
  • After 1.5 km, at the fork, turn slightly left towards Kvislapollen / house numbers 150–184
  • Drive 1.5 km to the Kvisla farms, then 250 m further to a gate
  • Park along the road without obstructing traffic or residents
