About

A signed and waymarked 7 km coastal path on the west side of the Eidangerfjord between Skjelsvik marina and the centre of Brevik. Starting from Skjelsvik marina, the path follows the coast, offering fine views of the water. Along the way, you pass Tangendammen, an old glacial dam where ice blocks were produced for refrigerators in the old days.

At Ørstvethalvøya, you’ll find old trenches dating from the Second World War. Continue following the path, past a marina and on up to join a road. Follow the road for a while to Hvalen and Malkenstranda beach, which is a great place to swim if the weather is good.

A new section of coastal path has been built from Hvalenstranda beach. This will bring you to a housing estate and Heistadstranda beach – another good place to swim – and then the new section of the coastal path on a gravel road by fields, before arriving at the old Norcem plant. From here, you follow the road into Brevik.

Most of the path offers good views out across the Langesundsfjord. It’s best to park at Mule Varde and follow the pedestrian walkway down to Skjelsvik marina (approximately 10 minutes).
