Travelling by car is often the easiest way to get around Telemark, especially in rural areas. If you arrive by train, you’ll find several car rental companies near Porsgrunn railway station, among other locations.
How to get to Telemark by car
The E18 is the main road into Telemark from both the east and the south. Driving from Oslo or Kristiansand to Skien or Porsgrunn takes around two hours. From Sandefjord, the drive takes approximately 45 minutes, and from Larvik, around 35 minutes.
