Long traditions - old timber buildings and beautiful storage cages
There are long traditions for tourism on Bolkesjø, here it has been a shuttle station since 1624. During the national romanticism, Bolkesjø was referred to as "The tourist gate to the wonderland" - when people wanted to explore the wild nature and culture in Telemark. The local environment around the farm is still reminiscent of old times, here there are old timber buildings and beautiful storage cages. The firehouse on the farm is the oldest in the area and dates to the 13th century.
