During 2016, the year marking the 350th Anniversary of the city’s founding, signs explaining the historic roots of local place names were set up in Kragerø. Pick up a brochure with map at the service office in the Town Hall, so you can walk safely along Kragerø`s lanes, alleyways and streets to find these 33 signs giving information and pictures from bygone times.
A walk through the city in search of these historical signs is a pleasant and educational activity throughout the year and a great way to get better known with Kragerø.
Keep aware of traffic! Many of the 33 signs are set up along narrow, heavily trafficked streets.
The signs were set up by the Municipality of Kragerø in cooperation with the residents’ associations of the neighborhoods on Øya, Thomesheia Andølingen and Havna. The signs are supported by Sparebankstiftelsen DNB.
