About

Want to get 'off the beaten track' and experience some of the quaint wooden arcihitecture, narrow and picturesque alleyways and lear about the history for Kragerø town?

In 2016, Kragerø celebrated its 350th Anniversary of the city’s founding, and 33 signs were placed in various places of interest. Eeach with a story to tell about the nearby area, building etc. The information is in both English and Norwegian. This is a great way to explore the town, and learn about what life used to be like in Kragerø years ago. Many buildings and places look a lot like it did over a hundred years ago whereas some areas have changed a lot.

You can find an interactive map that shows where the signs are here.

The signs were set up by the Municipality of Kragerø in cooperation with the residents’ associations of the neighborhoods on Øya, Thomesheia Andølingen and Havna. The signs are supported by Sparebankstiftelsen DNB.
