Take the train to one of Norway’s finest views

On a clear day, you can see an area equivalent to around one-sixth of mainland Norway from the summit, making this one of the country’s most remarkable viewpoints. It’s an excellent option if you want maximum reward with minimal effort.

A stroll among the treetops
Tretoppveien (the Treetop-way) in Fyresdal is one of Telemark’s most distinctive and accessible nature experiences. Norway’s first treetop walkway takes you on a one-kilometre journey through the forest, reaching heights of up to 15 metres above the ground. Here, you can experience the feeling of moving among the treetops without having to tackle challenging terrain.
The walk begins in Hamaren Activity Park, where you’ll also find a range of activities and facilities, including barbecue areas, a climbing park and swimming spots. It’s an ideal destination for families and anyone looking for a relaxed experience in nature. The entire route has been designed for universal access and is suitable for both wheelchairs and strollers.
Dramatic scenery
Just outside Dalen, you’ll find Ravnjuv – one of Telemark’s most spectacular viewpoints, known for its dramatic scenery and local legends. Here, the mountainside plunges several hundred metres into the landscape below, offering spectacular views across the wild scenery of West Telemark.
From the parking area along Ravnjuvvegen, it’s only a short walk to the viewpoint. While it’s easy to reach, caution is essential. There are steep drops and strong winds can occur, so take extra care when visiting. The route is not suitable for wheelchair users, but for those able to walk short distances, Ravnjuv offers an unforgettable encounter with Telemark’s dramatic landscape.

Coastal views with a touch of history
On the coast at Langesund, you'll find Tangen Fort – a historic coastal defence site with wonderful views across the archipelago. Built during the Second World War, the area is now a peaceful place to explore along the coastal trail.
From the parking area at Skipperhuset, it’s around a one-kilometre walk along a universally accessible path, making the route suitable for both strollers and wheelchair users. At the tip of the peninsula, panoramic sea views await, stretching from Helgeroa in the east to Jomfruland in the west. It’s an easy way to combine history, nature and beautiful coastal scenery.
