Welcome to Brokke Gård in Fyresdal – a historic farm in the heart of Vest-Telemark. Here, you can stay in modern apartments built inside a brand-new barn, surrounded by beautiful nature and local history.
The farm dates to the Middle Age, with a traditional storehouse from 1290 and written documents from 1560. In 2024, a new barn was built with two comfortable apartments. Each apartment is 60 m² and has two bedrooms (with four beds), a spacious bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, WiFi, and TV.
The building was nominated for the Honorary Award by the Norwegian Arkitekturopprøret and received a top three placement in their annual list of Norway’s most beautiful buildings. It was praised for its traditional design and use of sustainable materials. It is described as “a new family member dressed in the wedding costume of Vest-Telemark.”
Only 150 meters from the barn, you’ll find the farm’s old graveyard – the site where the Heggland pilgrimage church once stood. New research suggests this might also be the place called Broksvalin in the old Norwegian poem Draumkvedet, where the souls of the dead are judged.
This is the perfect place if you’re looking for:
– A quiet and beautiful place to stay
– Unique design and modern comfort
– A mix of history and nature
– Easy access to treetop walks, hiking, fishing lakes, and cultural landscapes
Please note: The apartments are not wheelchair accessible.
