The Kittelsen house: An artist’s childhood home
The Kittelsen house: He was born on the second floor, and as a child he felt as if the distance between the kitchen stove and the living room window was infinite.
Welcome to the small house in the center of Kragerø, where the renowned fairytale illustrator Theodor Kittelsen was born in 1857.
This year's exhibition 2019: The Year of the Year
If you go to Theodor Kittelsen's childhood home, you can see the series "Months of the Year". Theodor Kittelsen met Inga Kristine Dahl in June 1889, and the series was created by a newlywed and in love artist. It is a tribute to the couple's eighteen months at Skåtøy.
On the second floor of the Kittelsen House we tell the story of Inga, the perfect artist's wife.
The Kittelsen house also has a museum shop where you will find a number of books, prints and publications.
