Sandøya is a living island community with about 340 permanent residents. Most people live in a rural and idyllic "center" near the ferry port "Kommunebrygga". From Kommunebrygga there is a short distance to the beaches Grunntunga and Skolestranda.
Sandøya Handselshus is a popular place for residents and tourists, where you can enjoy a meal or buy food before moving on arpund the island.
If you want to find the pleasant and long-awaited calm, Sandøya is the place to visit, feel free to follow the trails around the island and just enjoy yourself.
A popular trail is to Dikkon across the island. The trail is well marked through the woods. You can also follow the road if you choose to ride a bike. At Dikkon there is a ferry terminal for Breviksfergene, camping and a cafe. Nice area for sunbathing and beaches.
There is a connection to the neighboring island of Løvøya, where you can take a ferry back to Brevik.
