About

After the Second World War, the need for a new cultural centre had become increasingly pressing each year, as had the need for a community centre.

Hence the plans for the two buildings were combined to create an all-purpose building for Skien and Grenland as a whole, and the plans for a cultural centre were born. And the name suggested itself: anything other than Ibsenhuset was unthinkable!
