The Kittelsen house: An artist’s childhood home
The Kittelsen house: He was born on the second floor, and as a child he felt as if the distance between the kitchen stove and the living room window was infinite.
Welcome to the small house in the center of Kragerø, where the renowned fairytale illustrator Theodor Kittelsen was born in 1857.
This year we exhibit Kittelsen’s satire drawings from the series “Do Animals Have Soul?” along with some of his fabled drawings.
Every day throughout the summer at noon and at 2pm we offer guided tours of the museum and the streets where Theodor played and ventured as a child. We also offer reading of fairytales for children at 1pm, every day!
The Kittelsen house also has a museum shop where you will find a number of books, prints and publications.
Opening hours 2018
June 16th - August 12th 11am to 5 pm
