The area where the cafe is located is called Gvepseborg and is 886 meters above sea level. Here you are a stone's throw from the Hardangervidda, Northern Europe's largest high mountain plateau and the reindeer kingdom. We do not guarantee that you will experience wild reindeer flocks around the cafe, but if you walk a kilometer or two in, the opportunity is considerably greater.

Gvepseborg is also the starting point for the "world renowned" bike ride in to Kalhovd and Mårbu. You should look a long time for a finer bike ride.

The cafe building was opened in 2013 and we say that you can enjoy a meal in one of the cafe with one of the best views in the country. In the background you see the majestic Gaustatoppen and far down in the West Fjord Valley you see the whole industrial town of Rjukan with its special architecture and urban structure. When the sun shines with us up here in the winter you can see how the famous Sun Mirror sends its rays of sun down the square.

This was made in 1929 so that the residents in Rjukan could see sunlight in the winter. The cars are from that time period and one can get the feel of the technology of that era. The views are... Read full review
