Langesund, an old and charming costal town dating back to 1765, is the regional administration centre.
It has strong traditions as a harbour for lumber, shipbuilding and ice and is beautifully situated on the fjord of the same name.
In the centre of town are a number of well-preserved and restored buildings from the late 18th century.
The area around Langesund is reowned for its interesting flora and geology.
Steinvika and Krogshavn are two outdor areas suitable for families and swimming.
