Getting there
By car
From abroad, we recommend the Color Line ferry between Hirtshals in Denmark and Larvik. Alternatively, there is also a ferry route via Kristiansand, which is south of Telemark. From Skien, it takes approx. 3,5 hours to reach Rjukan, but we recommend many stops en route!
By plane
Direct flights from Amsterdam to Sandefjord Airport Torp. Direct flights also to Oslo Airport Gardermoen or other airports as Kjevik (Kristiansand).
By bus
There are several bus departures between Skien and the Rjukan area. Please contact us for further information.
3 hours from Larvik you will find the historic and architect designed town of Rjukan – surrounded by steep mountains.
En route to Rjukan, we recommend a visit to Heddal stave church before driving along the Tinn Lake or take the trip via Tuddal and the foot of Gaustatoppen (1.883 metres above sea level) across the mountains.
You can climb to the top of the Gaustatopp Mountain in approx. two hours.
Rjukan is the gateway to the Hardangervidda high plateau. Take the Krossoban cable car to the top, and walk on well marked paths. Visit the Norwegian Industrial Worker's Museum at Vemork, and get to know the heroes of Telemark. When leaving Rjukan, you can travel by the boat MB Fjellvåken at the Møsvatn Lake. Drive westwards to Rauland before reaching the Haukelifjell Mountains and down to the fjords.

At the Norwegian Industrial Worker's Museum in Vemork, you will see the industry growing in the last century in Norway.
Vemork is also well-known for the famous sabotage during WWII. The event has been made visual through the movie "Heroes of Telemark" from 1965 with Kirk Douglas and Richard Harris.
