The Mari Pageant Play 26-29.July
Outdoor play and spectacular adventure at Rjukan, Telemark. The Mari Pageant is Telemark’s local Romeo and Juliet story based on the legend of Mari and her forbidden love for Øystein.
This outdoor play takes place in at beautiful and historic area by the spectacular Rjukan Waterfall.
Rjukan is located between the Hardanger Plateau National Park and the mountain Gaustatoppen (1883 m). The city is the first, and only, architecture-designed city and is nominated for the UNESCO World Heritage list. Deep in the valley you’ll find Rjukanfossen – a major tourist attraction for the upper classes in pre-industrial times. This waterfall was piped for power production, but at the Mari Pageant’s final scene, the audience is treated to the waterfall’s release in all its grandeur.
