Telemark for families

You don’t stop playing because you are old, you get old because you stop playing. Play around in Telemark with your family this summer.

Skate camps on Camp Vierli

Adrenaline activities

The blood is pumping and the adrenaline is rushing through you veins. Your smile just gets bigger and then you let go... everything stops for just a second before there is a scream and the world comes rushing in.

Pretend you are Tarzan and play around in the treetops at "Himalaya Klatrepark" in Skien

If you really need to get the blood pumping you should try a bungee jump from the Vemork bridge. This is the tallest permanent bungee jumping spot in all of Norway and you will dive 84 meters down into a gorge.

In Nissedal you have kilometers of smooth rock linked together by paths made specifically for cyclists. Imagine yourself speeding down a trail that never seems to end, but goes over bridges, onto a small island in a dark, quiet pond and through muddy fairytale landscapes.

Camp Vierli in Vinje is a riders palace. The best skate park in Norway, 800 square meter skate park and a 150 square meter indoor hall with trampolines and skating possibilities. You'll have free internet, a TV-room with PlayStation and free SUP boards. This is a dream come true for most active teenagers.

Another great teenage activity is the Nordsjø Kabelpark. Challenge yourself, your aunt or your father at one of the worlds best cable parks for wakeboarding, wakeskiing and water skiing.

Activities for a rainy day

Fritidsparken is situated in Skien and consists of six pools, a 100 meter long water slide and a spa area. Who needs sun when you have all of this indoor water fun?

When it rains, you may as well go deep. Outside Notodden, towards Kongsberg you will find the silver mines of Kongsberg. Travel 342 meters below the ground and through 2300 meters of tunnels and see the magic of the King's mine.

Team up with nature

You don't have to spend a fortune on activities because the best experiences in life you get for free – or at least pretty cheap.

The ferries that frequent the coast of Telemark have joined forces this summer and invite you to do some island hopping with them. See the coast of Telemark at its best.

Further up the county the river Fyresåna has spent thousands of years making a natural water park. This secluded bath area consist of "Jettegryter", or potholes, and natural water slides. Since it is situated in a gorge the water is heated by the sun and turns into comfortably warm thermal baths.

Just recently the Unesco decided that the industrial area of Notodden and Rjukan where to be protected as a World heritage site. Follow in the footsteps of the heroes from Telemark and walk the Saboteur's trail to Vemork.

Farms in Telemark, NorwayFarm tourism

Kids and animals can make great friends. Some of the beautiful farms in Telemark open their doors to the public during the summer. Try milking a cow, petting a rabbit or tasting the home made version of Norwegian children's favorite spread: Prim at Håvardsrud Seter or Selstadli seter. If you would like to learn more about the country life in historical Norway try visiting Heddal Bygdetun.

Other activities

Bø Sommarland is Scandinavia's biggest water park. You'll have splashtacular fun both in and out of the water.

The family park of Eidsborg has just opened a "Kanal park" with a true copy of the Telemark canal. Now you can sail your toy boat down a 105 meter long minitiature canal or try log driving through the locks. You can rent a boat from the museum if you do not have your own.
