Saga Cruises adds new excursions to Telemark

The Southern Norway region Telemark has successfully entered the cruise market, and we are happy to see revisits from the British cruise line Saga Cruises after being the first cruise ship to call the coastal perl of Brevik in September 2012.

In 2013 we welcomed cruise passengers from Sagas 7 ships arriving in Sandefjord, and going on shore excursions to several of the popular Telemark attractions.

The chosen Telemark sites are:

• The childhood home of the world renown playwright Henrik Ibsen in Skien

• Canal cruise on the 150 year-old national icon; the Telemark Canal

• The Norwegian Industrial Workers Museum Vemork, at Rjukan, the site of the Heroes of Telemark sabotage act against Hitler during WWII

• Heddal Stave Church, the largest and best preserved stave church in Norway

Cruise operators and cruise agents have expressed their delights over Telemarks large and diverse offer of accessible attractions. The feedback from the 2012 cruise passengers to Telemark was overwhelmingly positive, and the Telemark travel industry is looking forward to treat new guests to exciting and memorable experiences in 2013.
