Just one hour pilot distance from Skagerak you will reach the cruise ports of Telemark, located in the beautiful archipelago from Brevik to Kragerø with hundreds of islands. The county of Telemark also offers the Telemark Canal, stave churches, first-class museums, a historic fruit county, local food production, popular festivals, majestic mountains, deep valleys, rivers, lakes/fjords, storytelling, concerts, short courses in Norwegian traditions and popular winter activities/sports.

Enjoy coastal life in Brevik

- one of the best preserved towns in Norway from the sailing ship era with narrow streets, small shops and beautiful gardens, well worth a visit.

In the footsteps of world famous painter Edvard Munch, in Kragerø

- where he lived from 1909 until 1915, known especially for “The Scream”. Many of his famous works were painted here. See copies of his paintings on the exact spot he made them.

The island of Jomfruland outside Kragerø

- a small elongated island with two white Lighthouses. The island has a great variety of birds. In springtime you can admire a marvelous flowering of wood anemone.

New maritime museum in Porsgrunn

- opened in 2013 and emphasizes the importance of the district’s long maritime traditions.

Western-Telemark Museum Eidsborg tradition and history

located in the midst of a lush and powerful cultural landscape. It shows centuries of long traditions of buildings, folk art and crafts. Voted Norway’s best museum in 2012. Eidsborg Stave Church from 1250 is located next to the museum.

The ski museum “Norsk Skieventyr” in the charming village Morgedal , houses a multimedia journey through the history of skiing with paying special attention to the skiing revolution which developed out from Morgedal in the 1850s.
