Getting there
There are several opportunities of getting to this area.
By car
From abroad, we recommend the Color Line ferry between Hirtshals in Denmark and Larvik. Alternatively, there is also a ferry route via Kristiansand, which is south of Telemark. From Skien, it takes approx. 3 hours to reach Rauland, but we recommend stops en route!
By plane
Direct flights from Amsterdam to Sandefjord Airport Torp. Direct flights also to Oslo Airport Gardermoen or other airports as Kjevik (Kristiansand).
By bus
There are several bus departures between Skien and Rauland. Please contact us for further information.
Stay in mountain surroundings in Rauland. From here, you can enjoy day tours to well-known attractions as Rjukan, Vemork and the Telemark canal, or take the high road across the Haukeli mountains to Hardanger and the fjords in Western Norway.
Use the opportunity to taste local food, with products from the mountains, waters and forests in the region. For the walking enthusiasts, the surroundings offer several long or short walks in a vast mountain terrain.
The mountain village of Rauland offers exciting, local cultural experiences, and are especially known for its many farms from the Middle ages - still standing where they were made.
