Enjoying the snow
Telemark's magnificent and ever changing scenery is made for ski sports and enjoyment for the whole family. This is the region better known as the cradle of skiing, and there are long traditions for skiing and outdoor activities in Telemark.
The county is naturally also well-known for Telemark skiing, and this is one of many popular alpine skiing styles in the area, in Norway in abroad.
Here are some of the major and most famous ski resorts in Telemark:
Rauland: Have some of the best cross-country trail networks in Norway, with 200 kilometres of prepared ski tracks. The skiing season nomally lasts from December to April.
Haukeli: Haukeli is home to a wide range of services for visitors to the area. During winter, the Haukelifjell mountains are beautiful and wild, and the area is one of the most snow guaranteed areas in Norway.
Gaustablikk/Rjukan: The area is specially suited for families. That is why you will find sleigh hills and ski lifts for children, ski school for beginners, downhill and ski tracks with various levels of difficulty.
Vrådal: Vrådal Panorama Ski Centre is one of Telemark's largest ski centres, with 5 lifts and 15 slopes. An 8-seater chair lift assures no long lift queues.
Gautefall: Gautefall can accommodate almost 1,000 guests and is particularly well-suited for families.
