Solstien at Rjukan is officially opened
Enjoy a beautiful walk along Solstien (the sunshine path) in the Hardangervidda national park in northern Telemark.
A well prepared path, built by sherpas from Nepal, from Gvepseborg to Hardangervidda national park. The trip starts with the Krossobanen Cable Car, which brings you to Gvepseborg - at the foot of Hardangervidda. From here, you follow the gravelroad 800 meters. Then there is a stone path the next 1,1 kilometeres to Kanonstillingen, a culture heritage and viewpoint. Here you will see parts of the Germans gun emplacements from the second world war, as well as a magnificent view towards Gaustatoppen, Vemork and Hardangervidda.
Transportation:
From Oslo: bus from Oslo to Rjukan town centre. From here there is a local bus taking you up to the starting point; Krossobanen cable car.
By car, follow E18 from Oslo towards Drammen - E134 towards Kongsberg, and then RV37 to Rjukan. Drive west, through Rjukan town centre to Krosso and Krossobanen.
