Norway’s best apple juice comes from Telemark
Sauherad in Telemark produces the best clean apple juice in Norway, and won all the top prices in a national contest in Oslo this week.
The Sauherad area in Mid-Telemark is Norway’s second largest producer of apples, with a climate perfect for apple growing, situated on the brim of lake Norsjø which regulates the temperature both summer and winter. Here in the middle of Telemark it can become very warm during summer and very cold during the winter season. Actually, every fourth apple in Norway is produced in Sauherad, Telemark.
The 2012 winners were:
- Juice from mixed apples: Katja/Discovery from Nordre Lindheim Gård in Gvarv (Anders and Katrine Høibø)
- Juice from only one type of apples: Aroma from Nyhuus Gard in Gvarv (Kari Nyhuus Holtskog and Halvor Holtskog)
