Kittelsenhuset

© Kragerø Blad Vestmar, Jan Ove Jackobsen

Kittelsenhuset is a part of Berg-Kragerø Museum. It is situated in the centre of Kragerø, among charming narrow streets and lanes - the way it also was 151 years ago when Theodor Kittelsen was born in this house 27th of April in 1857.

In the last year as an anniversary, Kittelsenhuset opened the door to a new and modernised exhibition, which functions as a frame for annually changeable exhibitions of paintings. The anniversary exhibition showed the environment he was grown up in Kragerø, and his visits of this town as a mature artist for his artistic work throughout all his life, both as painter and author, and as merciless satirist. This is a permanent exhibition and art exhibitions will be changed every year.

In the last year, the museum published a booklet with illustration in both Norwegian and English. It can be ordered from the museum.
